Dmitry Podlesny, academic advisor of the Republican Gifted Children Lyceum in Saransk, asked the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to support his initiative on improving the worldwide science competitions training programs. The education worker voiced his suggestions during the plenary meeting of the All-Russia People’s Front (APF) forum “Quality education for the Country” in Penza on Wednesday, October 15.

In particular, Dmitry Podlesny said the Russian school system is currently far behind this of the Southeast Asia.

“We form our teams for Physics, Chemistry and Biology Olympics only in the final grades, and this must be changed. The teams must be led by people free of the regular routine who do mostly social-oriented tasks, or else we’ll never show them,” said the education professional.

He noted that the costs of this project will not be high.

“Give one more wage rate to these teachers in every subject, and will tear myself apart but get the better of them,” claimed Dmitry Podlesny.

In his turn, Vladimir Putin replied that “we must learn how to one up not only our Eastern neighbors, but everybody else too.”

“We must work with the kids in particular, get them ready for Science Olympics like we do in the sports. We have heard you, and I would like my colleagues to pay attention to this fact,” promised the head of the state.
