Alexander Samokutyaev worked in outer space for second time

Penza, 23 October 2014. PenzaNews. Alexander Samokutyaev, the Hero of Russia born in Penza, made his second open space visit in order to conduct planned repairs on the outer hull of the International Space Station.

He was accompanied by Maksim Suraev, who had also visited the open space only once before.
The astronauts started the repairs last Wednesday, October 22, at 17.30 by Moscow time, dressed in Russian-made “Orlan-MK” spacesuits.
Maksim Suraev and Alexander Samokutyaev have dismantled the RK 21-8 radio measurement complex, as well as 2ASF1-1 and 2ASF1-2 antennas, from the “Poisk” miniature research module; removed the protection cap from the Expose-R monocoque scientific module, and took the samples from the outer surface of the second exit window viewport of DC “Pirs” to be used in the space experiment “Test.”
In addition, the astronauts made photos of the outer vacuum and heat shielding of the ICC.
Maksim Suraev, leader of the ISS-41/42 expedition, and flight engineer Alexander Samokutyaev returned to the ICC at 21.05 by Moscow time after 3 hours and 41 minutes in the outer space.
As of now, Maksim Suraev has spent 9 hours 25 minutes in the outer space, while Alexander Samokutyaev has worked in the vacuum for 10 hours 4 minutes.
