According to the exercise script, the hospital admitted a patient with heat fever, vomiting and muscle pain.
During the initial examination, the physician learned that the patient had recently arrived from Liberia where she lived with her husband, and diagnosed her with a suspected case of Ebola hemorrhagic fever.
According to the official procedures, a case of Ebola must be immediately reported to the Ministry of Health of the Penza Region and the directorate of Rospotrebnadzor, isolate the other patients, block new patients from being admitted to the facility, and begin preliminary bacteriological decontamination procedures.
Any Penza region patient with a suspected case of Ebola must be immediately transferred to the special medical care center, after which every possibly contaminated room must be subjected to terminal disinfection procedures. The hospital will be able to resume its functions in two hours after the procedures.
As the press office of the Ministry of Health of the region reports, during the preparedness training, the doctors learned how to properly get dressed in biochemical seal suits, diagnose the patients based on visible symptoms before the arrival of the special medical care center staff.
