Penza, 31 October 2014. PenzaNews. Eight Penza region citizens under the age of 14 have been hospitalized with acute alcohol poisoning, including one lethality, during the first nine months of 2014.

As the regional Rospotrebnadzor department told PenzaNews agency, the officials have registered 12 cases of acute alcohol poisoning with successful recovery among the teenagers aged 15-17.

“Overall, 591 people poisoned themselves with alcoholic beverages this year, and 243 cases resulted in deaths. This is 13% lower than the previous year in poisoning numbers, but 3% higher in lethality cases,” the agency interlocutor informed.

The press service elaborated that 506 of alcohol overdosers are men, and 85 are women.

“The unemployed take the lead among those who suffer from alcohol poisoning in the Penza region, and they are the first again among lethal cases. The second are pensioners, the third are employed, the fourth are school students, one of whom died in the 2nd quarter of 2014, and vagrants, nobody of whom died. The college and university students are the last in the list with no lethalities,” the Rospotrebnadzor representative explained.
