Penza, 3 November 2014. PenzaNews. The Russian March in Penza on National Unity Day, November 4, will go along the Sura river bank.
As Alexander Shipanov, coordinator of the civic movement “Sura union,” told PenzaNews agency, the authorities have sanctioned the event.
“We will be gathering from 13.30 to 14.00 by the Rostok monument. The march will go from Bakuninsky bridge to the Bridge of Friendship, to later turn back to Rostok for a public rally,” the agency interlocutor explained.
He noted that the event, that plans to attract around 100 activist, aims to unite the Russian people.
“All such marches over Russia will go under the slogan ‘For Russian unity!’ Among other things, the march activists will demand the ceasefire in Novorossiya – the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” Alexander Shipanov said.
The Russian March is an annual demonstration and public rally campaign of Russian nationalistic organizations and movements in many cities of RF and ex-USSR.
The first Russian March took place in 2005, the year after the government pronounced November the 4th, National Unity Day, an all-country holiday.
The main symbol of the Russian March is a flag with black, yellow and white stripes: in ex-USSR countries, the march participants frequently use the St. Andrew’s Flag instead.
