Penza, 13 November 2014. PenzaNews. The governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev suggested to set up extracurricular classes on Chinese in the local schools.

“I suggest an experimental project that involves teaching Chinese to the Penza school students after classes,” wrote the head of the region in his Twitter on Thursday, November 13.

As the press service of the regional government told PenzaNews agency, the relevant authorities are reviewing the potential of this project.

According to the Minister of Education of the Penza region Svetlana Kopeshkina, Chinese is already taught in several regions of Russia both in schools and teenage clubs.

“However, lack of teachers and schoolbooks makes the possibilities limited. We will research the issues with our universities and the PSU,” she noted.
