Penza, 13 November 2014. PenzaNews. 800 thousand residents of the Penza region have received access to the high-speed mobile 4G+ Internet through MegaFon network.

“The advantage of this network — high-speed mobile web access — can be used by residents of Penza, Kuznetsk, Zarechny, Serdobsk, Gorodishche, Spassk, Nizhny Lomov, as well as Bessonovka, Srednyaya Elyuzan, Mokshan and Lunino villages. Fourth-generation network services are available on the territory with over half the population of the region,” Aleksei Bryukhachev, director of Penza branch of JSC MegaFon, told PenzaNews agency.

He said that the average speed of 4G+ Internet access is 15-20 Mbps, which is 6-7 times higher than the average speed in the third generation network.

“It allows the user to quickly and conveniently download and transfer heavy files, view good-quality online videos, and easily load webpages. According to statistics, a third of the traffic speed is consumed through downloading when visiting various websites, blogs and forums, while online video viewing takes 25%, social networking — 18%, ‘heavy’ downloads through filesharing services and other resources — 16%,” the agency interlocutor noted.

Alexei Bryukhachev added that the service is actively used by subscribers, including corporate clients, both in rural and urban areas.

“Among the 4G-devices, the most popular are among area residents are modems, while business customers are increasingly moving on to routers and tablets. The cost of the Internet 4G service is the same as the previous generation (2G/3G). The price varies from 135 to 990 rubles per month depending on the channel speed. In addition, the range of devices supporting the fourth generation is constantly expanding — today, around 70 models of gadgets are available. These are MegaFon devices and those of other popular manufacturers. 4G-modems, routers, smart phones work in all MegaFon networks, which means that if a client leaves the 4G+ network, for example, when traveling to another area of the region, the 4G device will automatically switch over to 3G/2G MegaFon networks to maintain Internet access,” the director of Penza branch of the company stressed.
