Penza, 9 December 2014. PenzaNews. Rally to mark the Heroes of the Fatherland Day, was held near the “Heroes’ Glory” memorial on the Sura river embankment in Penza on Tuesday, December 9.

Sergei Pulikovsky, deputy chairman of the regional government, addressed the crowd and noted that we should honor not just the deceased, but also the living.

He also urged the youth to be active and socially responsible.

“There is always a place for a feat in life. Maybe some day your names will be inscribed on this monument,” the deputy chairman of the regional government said.

The rally was attended by Alexander Eremkin, deputy chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Ivan Krasnov, deputy chairman of the City Duma, and Vladimir Kerkhanadzhev, head of the city veteran council.

During the event, the gathered honored the deceased with a minute of silence and laid flowers and wreaths to the monument.
