“Day Express” reached from Samara to Penza in 270 minutes during tests

Penza, 11 December 2014. PenzaNews. The “Day Express” train went from Samara to Penza in 4 hours and 30 minutes including station stops, covering 389 kilometers.
As the press secretary of the Penza section of Kuybyshevskaya Railroad Svetlana Zatuliveter told PenzaNews agency, the test ride was organized for the interregional fast passenger train development program for the Kuybyshevskaya section.
“It was vital for testing the potential of the Kuybyshevskaya railroad in terms of transitioning to faster trains and rehearsing coordination on faster coordination,” the agency interlocutor explained.
According to her, the fastest active trains on Penza—Samara section, No. 133, covers the distance in 6 hours and 19 minutes.
“The ‘Day Express’ will be used daily on Samara—Penza—Samara route. Approximate departure time from Samara is set at 6.00 am and 17.00, while arrival time to Penza is approximated at 11.00 am and 22.00. The train will depart from Penza at 7.00 am and 16.30, and arrive to Samara at 12.00 and 21.30,” said Svetlana Zatuliveter.
She added that this plan requires procuring two “Lastochka” high-speed trains developed by Siemens AG, Germany.
“The train includes 5 wagons and has a total lengh of up to 130 meters. It can go as fast as 160 kmph,” the agency interlocutor clarified.
