Penza, 31 December 2014. PenzaNews. The police force of the Penza region will be working on extended schedule during the New Year holidays.

“Over 160 mass events that engage over 50 thousand citizens will be organized in the Penza region on the New Year night. No less than 600 police officers and 120 special vehicles will be maintaining order and public safety, as well as 400 militia guards,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs told PenzaNews agency.

According to officials, over 150 religious events will be held on the night into January 7 in celebration of Orthodox Christmas.

“Around 20 thousand people will take part in these events. Police will be involved in protecting public order,” the department said.

Investigators and quick dispatch teams will also be working on extended schedule.

“Each mass event location will be inspected for counter-terrorism protection features. Police groups will monitor each mass event,” said the police.
