Penza municipal services on high alert due to cold spell

“They will monitor the situation on a 24-hour basis,” the press service of the city administration informed PenzaNews agency.
The officials addressed the drivers with a request to pay great attention to the road if roads get slippery in order to avoid any accidents.
“Dear drivers, maintain vehicle distance, watch the oncoming traffic and possible unexpected cars due to icy roads, move as slow as possible, and pay special attention on pedestrian crossings – especially those with no traffic lights. Respect everyone on the road, especially municipal transport that will be cleaning the city streets,” said the press service.
The Penza city administration also asked the pedestrians to be careful, since it may be much harder for cars to stop completely.
Tuesday, January 6, was already marked by colder temperature in Penza city with below -10°C in the morning, compared to about 0°C a day before. The meteorologists expect the temperature to go down to -20°C in the evening.
A cold spell is expected to continue into Wednesday, January 7, with possible temperatures down to -29…-24°C.
According to weather forecast, temperature will reach -31°C at night into Thursday, January 8, with potential improvement during the day.
The end of the week will be much warmer. On Sunday, January 11, temperature may rise up to -1°C.
