Penza, 16 January 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region governor Vasily Bochkarev held a working meeting with representatives of JSC Mobile TeleSystems on Friday, January 16.

During the meeting, Mikhail Chernyshov, director of MTS-Volga macro-region, introduced Evgeny Galushko, head of the combined company's branch in Ulyanovsk, Mordovia and Penza, to the head of the region.

During the meeting the participants noted that in the Penza region has over 2 million people using the services of mobile operators. MTS covers about 85% of the region and continues actively building and upgrading its own network in the region.

“We have increased the numbers of our base stations in the region by 30% in 2014, which has greatly improved the quality of communication in 100 settlements and a 33% increase of the average mobile Internet speed,” Mikhail Chernyshov said.

He added that MTS plans to connect several dozens base stations to fiber-optic cable network in 2015, which will improve the quality of services and provide high-speed mobile Internet access.

In his turn, Vasily Bochkarev noted that “the Penza region keeps step with Russia” and is interested in the development of modern telecommunication services that are in demand among both citizens and legal entities.

“The region should not have any dead zones with no mobile, Internet and digital television access,” said the governor.

According to MTS, the company intends to continue further development of the fixed network in the Penza region, and supply over 4 thousand private homes with their services this year.
