Its initial session was held at the second hall of the regional Parliament on Thursday, February 5.
“We have great hopes the civic council will become the institution of active cooperation between the regional Parliament and society. Each of those present now is a professional in his sphere, a successful person, a person whom the Penza region residents trust. We would like to employ your experience in resolving current issues of law reforms on regional and federal levels, and rely on you taking part in discussions over socially important law drafts vital for most citizens. I believe this will help law quicker adapt for the modern life, and help hear the opinion of our citizens during the decision-making process,” noted Ivan Belozertsev, chairman of the regional Legislative Assembly.
The meeting resulted in Svetlana Pinishina, human rights ombudsman in the Penza region during 2008–2013, as the chairman of the new council.
Afterwards, the members of the new body defined their 2015 schedule, says the press service of the regional Parliament.
