The event was attended by the governor Vasily Bochkarev, mayor Yuri Krivov, deputy chairman of the City Duma Roman Petrukhin, and head of the city Education Department Yuri Golodyaev.
It began with a guided tour through the kindergarten for the honorary guests, followed by a small concert by the preschoolers.
“The kindergarten had to close, had to change its purpose. The city brought it back to the children. Together we poured great funds to make it a modern kindergarden for today’s century,” noted Vasily Bochkarev in his address to the audience.
He also expressed his opinion that present times demand for robotics lessons to have larger presence in preschool curriculum.
“A robot helps a child develop, and the child improves it in return. The robot makes the child thinks. A game and a lesson in one,” said the head of the region.
In his turn, Yuri Krivov expressed his gratitude to builders, tutors and parents for actively helping to prepare the kindergarten for the children.
“We did a good deed as part of our roadmap implemented according to the presidential decree. We may state Penza has successfully completed the tasks set by it. All children aged 3 to 7 now can attend preschool. In this kindergarden, we can also admit children from 18 months, therefore surpassing the planned levels set by the decree,” stressed the head of Penza city administration.
According to Yuri Golodyaev, the ITR street kindergarten can admit 205 children, which will help satisfy the demand in the Zavodskoy neighborhood for the next few years.
“It was a state-owned kindergarten, later refitted into an institute. The municipality bought it for 55 million rubles two years ago. We practically had to rebuild it,” he said.
During the official event, construction workers who repaired the location were awarded presents and letters of gratitude.
