Fraudsters pose as children’s hospital helpers, embezzle 50,000 from Penza firm

Penza, 13 March 2015. PenzaNews. Police officers are taking measures to establish the identities of people involved in committing fraud against a commercial company.

“The chief accountant of the company submitted a statement to police department No. 5. According to her, during the work day an unidentified person called the company director and introduced himself as an employee of Rospotrebnadzor. The person asked to provide 50,000 rubles of financial assistance to buy a tomographic scanner for a regional children’s hospital. After that, the director asked the accountant to transfer the money and read out the phone number. The accountant called this number, and then followed the instructions of the stranger transferring the money to an online account,” the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed PenzaNews agency.

The ministry noted that the telephone number of the unknown caller is registered in a different city.
