Numerous road potholes appeared on practically every Penza street, including the main highways that once used to be kept in satisfactory condition and repaired on a priority basis.

The situation on Lunacharskovo street leaves much to be desired, and a lot of potholes have recently appeared on Stroitelei prospekt and Koltsova street – the latter became popular among the residents of the Arbekovo district after the opening of a back-up city road.

The roads became dented in the central part of Penza as well, including Kirova, Maxima Gorkovo, Volodarskovo and Suvorova streets, even on the road sections that had been repaired a year ago.

In addition, potholes appeared in GPZ-24, Shuist, Zapadnaya, Yuzhnaya and Severnaya Polyana city districts.

Penza drivers often mark Okruzhnaya and Tarnovskogo Streets as good exceptions from the rule. These roads recently underwent renovation, and they are currently in good condition.

The traffic police has already filed as many as seven protocols on administrative offences (violation of road condition requirements) since March 1, the press service for the regional traffic police informed PenzaNews agency.

“We have issued 49 writs to rectify the revealed defects. A legal entity will face proceedings under Part 1, Art. 19.5 of the Administrative Code for failure to fulfill an order that had been issued earlier,” the press service explained.

The law enforcement forces have informed the Penza administration of the necessity to take control over the road maintenance problem and take immediate measures to repair the road defects.

“Poorly maintained roads may cause accidents,” the traffic police stressed.
