Holy relics from Mount Athos to arrive in Penza
Penza, 21 March 2015. PenzaNews. The holy relics from Mount Athos will be arriving to Penza on Monday, March 23.
“Among them are the Iviron icon of the Madonna from the Iviron monastery; the icon of Madonna Pantanassa from the Vatopedi monastery; the relics of the Saint Martyr Anastasia the Pharmakolytria, the Saint Martyr Panteleimon, the Saint Martyr Theodor Tyroin, the Saint Martyr Kharlampiy, the sanctifier Gregory the Theologian, and two pieces from the Life-giving Cross of the Lord,” the press service of the Penza diocese informed PenzaNews agency.
The arrival of the relics will be met at 15.45 by Ioann Yavorsky, hegumen of the Pokrovsky Hegumen Cathedral and chairman of the construction department of the Penza diocese.
The holy relics will be put on display and adoration for the Penza believers in the Blagoveschensky church on the Sovetskaya square.
The relics will reside at the Pokrovsky archdiocese cathedral of Penza from 16.00 of Thursday, March 26, to 10.00 of Monday, March 30, from where they will move to the church of Supreme Apostles St. Peter and Paul.
The later movements of the holy icons and relics in Penza are currently unknown.
