“It is customary in Akhuny for neighbors and relatives of the heroes of the day to accompany them. This proves once again that here people live together as one, live interesting and very active lives,” he said, welcoming the audience.

Victory Day is very special for every Russian citizen, Viktor Kuvaytsev said.

“We remember that some of the people present here have stepped into the fray, and others did everything behind the lines to bring on the victory. We will be forever grateful to you, deeply respectful not only on the holiday eve, but every day, trying to help you,” he said.

“You saved not only our country, but the whole world; you made it possible for us and our children to live in a free society,” the city head stressed.

He drew attention to the fact that Akhuny has a student movement that is ready to assist the veterans in every possible way to solve their everyday problems.

Viktor Kuvaytsev reminded that over the past three years, on the Victory Day, the students of the Penza State Agricultural Academy drove the veterans to the places of celebration using personal transport.

According to him, they plan to use this positive experience all around the city.
