Penza to mark 100th anniversary of Armenian genocide in official events
Penza, 23 April 2015. PenzaNews. Penza will hold official commemorative events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide on Friday, April 24.
The events will involve representatives of the Armenian diaspora, and city and regional officials.
A commemorative public rally will be held at 13.00 in the Pobedy park, where people will light candles and lay flowers.
Another event will be held by the future construction site of the Armenian Apostle Church that currently features two khachkars (Armenian cross-stones) that symbolize centuries of friendship and spiritual unity of Armenians and Russians.
A musical and poetical evening dedicated to the tragic anniversary will be held at 16.30 at the regional Lunacharsky Drama Theater.
The stage will feature the performance of the vocal and dance group “Aragats” of the Penza city Armenian diaspora, says the press service of the regional Department of Internal Policy and Mass Communications.
