“We must tell our children and grand-children that the Great Victory is an inseparable part of each family’s history. For you, boys and girls of the years after the war, it was a part of your lives, but we must show, tell and implant this idea to the younger generation. Only then our country will have a worthy future,” he added.

In his turn, the head of “Children of War” project Oleg Sharipkov, executive director of the Civil Union foundation, stressed that “People’s Medal” campaign brought together many people who helped it by donating the money for the medals.

“These are both businessmen and large businesses, over 50 organizations of various kinds. These are not just people living here in Penza. We received money from Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Irkutsk,” he pointed out.

The project “Children of War” was created to help people who suffered from the Nazi Faschism gather together freely.

“To help you go to theaters, cinemas, museums, go to guided tours, to fill your lives with new meaning you may have missed in your childhood,” he said.

Nearly 100 people received the medals during the current ceremony, which was the third in the campaign.

Afterwards, the elderly enjoyed a small concert by the children’s musical school No. 1.
