The event, called “The Peace Action,” gathered the representatives of various ethnic and cultural diasporas living in the region.

Welcoming the participants, Alexander Elatontsev, head of the Department of Internal Policy and Mass Communications of the Penza region, noted the importance of the event organized just before Victory Day.

“This library is probably one of the best in Russia, but it turned out that there was no particular plant presence around here. Much attention was paid to funding, the content, beautiful events, including the federal ones,” he said.

According to him, the birch alley will serve as a reminder for the Penza residents about those who did not returned from the battlefield and gave away their lives for the victory.

“The Victory of 1945 was won at great cost, and the all ethnic groups of the Soviet Union contributed to it,” Alexander Elatontsev stressed.

He also expressed the hope that this event is the beginning of a new tradition when new trees will be planted here every year on.
