The campaign was organized by the city’s Pervomaisky area administration together with MegaFon, known for holding its regular “Green Saturday Cleaning Day” for the eleventh spring straight. It was held on the professional holiday of all communications workers.
The WWII veterans were invited as honorable guests of the campaign.
The director of MegaFon Penza branch Alexei Bryukhachev led by example by taking part in planting fir trees along the Okruzhnaya street side.
“We never cared how many trees we planted in these 11 years and how many square meters of land we cleaned of trash during our ‘Green Saturday Cleaning Days.’ But I think the numbers of saplings planted and square meters of land cleaned already went over a thousand,” he noted.
According to him, the MegaFon employees take pride in their duty to clean their city.
“We would like for the people who live besides and use our mobile network to feel our care and know that MegaFon is indeed close to them,” Alexei Bryukhachev said.
Among other officials who took part in the campaign were Lidiya Belyakova, head of the Pervomaisky city area administration; and Ruslan Chikin, head of Information Support Department of the regional Ministry of Industry.
MegaFon holds annual “Green Saturday Cleaning Days” in the Penza region.
The company employees are planting new alleys and public gardens not only in the city itself, but also in the smaller towns and villages in the service provider’s coverage zone.
