More funds needed for AIDS-infected Penza region residents

Penza, 26 May 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region needs 400,000 rubles of additional funds for anti-tuberculosis medication for the regional residents infected with AIDS.
The decision to request the necessary funds from the Penza region budget was made during a meeting led by the regional government head Mikhail Kosoy, the press service of the Penza region Ministry of Health informed PenzaNews agency.
“The meeting involved the chief medical officers from institutions of the Issa, Kuznetsk, Lunino and Kolyshley areas, as well as Penza and Zarechny. These areas show the largest AIDS infection rate growth throughout the four months of 2015. The event was also attended by deputy administration heads of the aforementioned areas,” the officials added.
Overall, the AIDS incidence rate in the Penza region grew by 33% compared to the same period last year, but still remains below the average level of Russia or the Volga Federal District, the press service elaborated.
