The event organized by the delegation of the Golitsyn Frontier Institute of the Federal Security Service (FSB) was held at “Penza” cinema and concert hall.
The event gathered students from Penza and the region, as well as representatives of public veteran organizations.
Among the honored guests of the event were the acting governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev, the mayor Viktor Kuvaytsev, the chief of the FSB border guard department in the Saratov and Samara regions Major General Sergei Mityushin, the head of the Golitsyn Frontier Institute colonel Vladislav Konshin, and other officials.
An exposition of weapons, equipment and uniforms was organized in the lobby of the cinema and concert hall. The representatives of the FSB educational institutions told the young people about the specifics of training in a military university and career perspectives in service to the country. In addition, the students had an opportunity to test themselves at target shooting in a specially equipped shooting range.
Ivan Belozertsev expressed his gratitude to Vladislav Konshin and noted the event is organized at a very timely moment for the younger generation.
“It is important – especially in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. We need to bring up the patriots, our young people, the people who love their Motherland and serve it. We must teach children about the feats of their ancestors, the officers and soldiers who had served or serve now, and gave the most precious thing they had – their lives – to their country,” he said.
Streets in cities and towns of the Penza region, as well as schools and other institutions, continue to receive the names of heroes of the border guard, Ivan Belozertsev stressed.
In his turn, Vladislav Konshin stressed that this campaign is a part of the state program of patriotic education of Russian citizens.
“I am very glad to see this stage of the program held here of all places. The Penza land is famous for its traditions, and many heroes of the border guard were born here. We all honor the names of Kizhevatov and Makhalin. They are the best of the best of our border protection forces,” he added.
According to Vladislav Konshin, the Frontier Institute is interested in enrolling the most capable and prepared students, including those from Penza, in its courses.
“We are showing you the state of equipment currently in use, the staff of our educational institutions, so that those who want to serve in the border guard may choose to begin their training right from the school years,” he said.
The event concluded with a festive concert prepared by vocal-choreographic ensemble “Chest’ Imeyu” (“My Honor”) of the Golitsyn Frontier Institute of the Federal Security Service.
