Penza, 3 June 2015. PenzaNews. A man, 46, who had been detained for 10 days for being drunk and disorderly, passed away in the detention room of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department early on Wednesday, June 3.

“The man was detained by the patrol police officers in the Oktyabrsky city area on Monday, June 1. The area court sentenced the man to administrative arrest,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.

According to them, the citizen was moved to the detention room on the day after, and had no complaints about his health.

“At 6.06 am of June 3, the other residents of the detention room alerted the police officer on the guard that the man’s condition got worse. He called ER at once, and the police officers gave the man first aid before their arrival. The member of the ER brigade attested the death of the detained person. According to preliminary information, it was caused by cardiac failure,” the police explained.

The final decision on the reasons behind the death will be established during a court medical examination, the press service stressed.

“A functional audit will serve to establish the picture of the event,” the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed.
