Penza, 6 July 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza State University has received over 10,000 applications from school graduates since the start of the application period on June 19.
“Each school graduate is eligible to choose up to three majors. This means the competition for the 1,500 state-funded places allocated for the university is already pretty big,” Vitaly Solovyev, executive secretary of the PSU selection committee, pointed out.
He explained that the courses in Medical, Law and Economics remain popular; however, the year of 2015 has shown an increase in applications for pedagogical and technical majors.
“The current competition for the technical specialties goes as tense as 10 applicants per place. The most demanded majors among the future students are those related to IT, electronics and transport,” the PSU executive secretary commented on the interim results.
The passing grades for the state-funded places will be made public on August 3 for the first tier of applicants and on August 7 for the second tier.
Moreover, each applicant will receive from zero to ten bonus points for essays, CVs and personal achievements by July 27.
“People often ask us why we cannot assign the bonus points right after they submit the documents. The answer is easy: we need time to review the essays, the CVs and the confirmation documents. We will make sure to take all the points into account,” the PSU press service quotes Vitaly Solovyev.
