Traffic accident numbers in Penza region drop 13.9% over 6 months

Penza, 8 July 2015. PenzaNews. The numbers of traffic accidents in the Penza region went down by 13.9%, from 975 to 839 cases, over the first six months of 2015.
The number of casualties in traffic accidents decreased by 5.1%, from 98 to 93, and numbers of the injured dropped by 14.5%, from 1,316 to 1,125.
At the same time, the number of accidents involving children under 16 decreased by 24.5%, from 106 to 80, just like with the accidents caused by children – from 33 to 19 cases, or by 42.4%.
The DUI-caused accidents became 4.5% rarer, from 132 to 126.
The accidents involving pedestrians decreased by 19.5%, from 256 to 206, with 7.4% less casualties (from 27 to 25) and 18.4% less injured (from 245 to 200).
The traffic police officers were instructed to implement series of measures to prevent DUI-caused accidents and motorcycle crashes, says the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department in the Penza region.
