Penza, 16 July 2015. PenzaNews. 105 children changed their mind on having an abortion after asking for medical and social help in the special departments under the healthcare institutions of the Penza region over the six months of 2015.

The departments in question received calls from 757 children considering abortion since the beginning of the year, the press service of the regional Ministry of Health informed PenzaNews agency.

“The gradual work in the Penza region helped halve the number of abortions over the last ten years,” the officials noted.

The press service remarked that the medical institutions of the region have a total of ten medical and social assistance offices, where medics tell pregnant women about the dangers and consequences of an abortion, while psychologists, social security workers and lawyers help them resolve difficulties in their lives.

“On Thursday, July 16, the birthing assistance institutions of the Penza region hold a series of events dedicated to the annual all-Russian pro-life campaign ‘Give Me Life!’ Throughout its duration, the maternity rooms of the region will hold open door days and distribute information booklets to prevent abortions,” the ministry workers explained.
