Three Penza villages connected to Rostelecom fiber-optic lines

Penza, 12 August 2015. PenzaNews. Rostelecom connected to the fiber-optic communication three villages of the Penza region — Chumaevo in Kameshskirsky area, Chibirley in Kuznetsky area, and Kuteevka in Belinsky area — as a part of the next stage of the program “FOCL beyond the regional center.”
As the press service of the Penza branch of OJSC Rostelecom told PenzaNews agency, the total population of the villages included in the coverage area is 2.8 thousand people.
“New modern optic line replaced 18 km of existing copper lines laid decades ago,” the company noted.
Rostelecom stressed that the program “FOCL beyond the regional center” is financed by the operator and provides fiber-optic communication lines in the areas “regional center — village.”
“The optics built and new telecommunication equipment installed in the villages, provide an opportunity to use the service “Home Internet” at 2 Mbit / s, as well as to work comfortably with web-sites, watch streaming video, receive e-government and banking services. In addition, the villagers will be able to use the new service “Interactive TV” allowing to view up to 200 TV channels in digital quality,” the press service explained.
According to Lev Dyatlov, director of the Penza branch of OJSC Rostelecom, the villages selected for the project were in need of increasing the number of broadband access ports and bandwidth data.
“Rostelecom is implementing a national expansion of fiber optic networks. We transfer the existing subscribers to the optics and develop a fiber optic network in the settlements have no high-speed access to the Internet,” he said.
According to reports, at present the company's technical specialists are building another section of intra-optic line to Ilim-Gora village in Neverkinsky area.
In the last 5 years, Rostelecom has built more than 1 thousand km of optical lines covering 210 villages of the Penza region.
