“Today is the day of one of the most prominent official symbols of our great country. The national flag symbolizes the sovereignty, national unity, it is the national pride and identity,” he said.

Victor Kuvaytsev added that the national flag has a long history of several centuries.

“Today, the state flag for all of us is a patriotic and historical value as a symbol that embodies the glorious heroic fate of the Russian people. In the white-blue-red tricolor of the Russian flag — white means peace, purity, chastity, goodness; blue stands for faith, fidelity, constancy; red symbolizes energy, strength, blood shed for the country. All these qualities are inherent to our nation. Dear friends, I sincerely wish you peace, unity, mutual understanding and prosperity to the glory of our Fatherland,” the press service of the Penza City Duma quotes Viktor Kuvaitsev.
