Penza regional court dismissed complaint of Saratov activist Evgeny Shirmanov

Penza, 23 August 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza regional court upheld the decision of the Leninsky district court of Penza as of August 17, 2015, according to which the Saratov activist Evgeny Shirmanov was arrested for 10 days for disorderly conduct, states the message posted on VKontakte group dedicated to the blogger's activities.

It also states that the activist's complaint was dismissed.

The official website of the Penza regional court provides no information about the decision on Evgeny Shirmanov's case. However, there is a note that the materials of the administrative case entered the regional court on Friday, August 21.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, On Saturday, August 15, Evgeny Shirmanov performing civilian monitoring of traffic police activities and widely publicizing the violations made by the officers, planned to meet with his supporters on Lenin Square in Penza at 20.00.

At 20.42 Vkontakte he posted that the police arrested him and “took to the police department for unknown reasons.”

On August 16, Nadezhda Ivanova, chief of media relations in MIA in the Penza region, informed PenzaNews agency that the day before, on Lenin Square, they detained a group of young people for committing an administrative offense under Part 1, Art. 20.1 of the Administrative Code “Disorderly conduct.” Three of them are the residents of the Saratov region.

Later it became known that Evgeny Shirmanov got 10 days of arrest.

As of 11.00 Sunday, August 23, Change.org, where Shirmanov's associates organized collection of signatures in support of the Saratov activist, gathered 2,186 people.

On August 18, Evgeny Shirmanov's car left by the owner on Lenina Square in Penza, was doused with a chemical liquid.
