Penza, 26 August 2015. PenzaNews. The PenzaNews agency decided to cancel the 2015 bowling championship among media representatives, a traditional event since 2010.

“The top reasons is sequestration of our partners’ budgets in the current economic situation and the fact that the prices on imported goods we traditionally used as presents have doubled,” Pavel Polosin, PenzaNews agency editor-in-chief, commented on the situation.

He added that the agency declined to support the initiative of one of the political parties that offered their support to the bowling championship.

“We find it incorrect to introduce political context to our informal event for the journalists – at least for this year, the election year. I think many colleagues of mine share my point of view,” Pavel Polosin stressed.

The PenzaNews agency editor-in-chief also expressed his hope that the next year will bring improvement to the economic situation in the country and in the region to hold the new bowling championship without a drop in quality.

“However, I do consider the form of the event might change. But we still find it important to hold such championships for journalists, a highly desired event in the media community that serves to bring people together,” he concluded.
