Nine Penza enterprises, including “MedInzh,” “NanoMed,” “Endocarbon,” “Enspiramed” and “Trade House ‘Parafarm’,” are showing their goods at the federal fair.

Among these are examples of hi-tech devices and top-of-the-line import replacement oriented developments: new-generation artificial heart valves, valve-containing prosthetics, coronary stunts, joint implants, intervertebral disk endoprosthetics, as well as biomedical medicine and additives.

On Wednesday, September 16, the trade show featured a roundtable discussion on import replacement in medical field. The panel, organized by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, featured a speech of Sergei Yevdokimov, board chairman of “Biomed,” head manager of “MedInzh,” who touched upon the topic of implementing import replacement measures in medical equipment production through a cluster-oriented approach.

“Most contemporary Russian companies that produce innovative medical equipment are classified as small and medium enterprises. Such businesses can complete the task of replacing imported goods produced by foreign corporations only if they cooperate and unite their forces in all key areas, from R&D to joint production and sales and promotion in the medical market. A cluster approach helps fostering such cooperation,” Sergei Yevdokimov added.

He also demonstrated the experience of the Penza companies in regional cluster wide cooperation, both in development of mutual infrastructure and implementation of cluster production projects.

“By joining forces, we managed to secure federal and regional support and adapted the technopark ‘Rameev’ to the needs of high-technology medical production process. Such cluster-wide cooperation and target support of the Penza region allowed us to launch production of innovative medical equipment, making them known both in Russia and abroad,” Sergei Yevdokimov stressed.

The Penza companies are taking part in the trade show “Import Replacement” under support of the Center for Cluster Development.
