“Working in Krasnodar today. As governor’s representative, congratulations to locals with city’s 222th anniversary,” he wrote in Twitter.
The City Day celebrations in Krasnodar began with an official reception of the foreign delegations, says the website of the city administration.
“Today in this hall, we meet the delegation of our friendliest and most active brotherhood cities and partners: Karlsruhe (Germany), Harbin (PRC), Sukhum (Abkhazia) and a delegation from Yerevan (Armenia), as well as the assistant secretary in the German Embassy to Moscow Natalia Kanand. For the first time, this year was marked by an arrival of a delegation from the French city of Narcy, the brotherhood city of Karlsruhe. I would like to thank you for your visit and give you the most sincere welcome from the name of our citizens,” the head of Krasnodar Vladimir Yevlanov told the guests.
In spite of the difficult international situation, the brotherhood cities continue their years-long successful cooperation in various fields, such as economy, science, culture, sports and education.
At the end of the reception, the guests presented the head of Krasnodar with gifts and souvenirs to mark their friendship and long-term cooperation.
The festivities continued with a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 222th anniversary of the foundation of the Kuban land capital, the second such ceremony for City Day in Krasnodar.
The banner of the city, 10 by 15 meters, was brought in by the Cossacks of the honored guard of the Yekaterinodar area Cossack society. The flag-raising was accompanied by the hymn of Krasnodar performed by the vocal and dance ensembles “Krinitsa” and “Rodnik.”
According to public source, the flagpole installed on Teatralnaya square in Krasnodar is the highest in the region at 42 meters tall. The flag of the Krasnodar Krai was first raised on this pole on April 26, 2014, the Day of Rehabilitation of the Kuban Cossack Society.
