Traffic accidents statistics decline in Penza region

Penza, 17 October 2015. PenzaNews. The total number of traffic accidents in the Penza region has decreased by 12.5% over the first 9 months of 2015, from 1,692 to 1,480 cases, according to results announced in the report on activities of the Penza region traffic police department and its subordinate organizations during the meeting held on Friday, October 16.

The number of deaths caused by traffic accidents decreased by 1.6%, from 182 to 179, while injuries went down by 13.5%, from 2,283 to 1,974.

The number of traffic accidents involving children under 16 decreased by 12%, from 184 to 162, with 44.4% less deaths of children (from 9 to 5) and 6.3% less injured children (from 189 to 177).

The number of DUI-caused traffic accidents went down by 16.7%, from 240 to 200, with 21.6% less resulting deaths (from 51 to 40), and 20.6% less injured (from 355 to 282).

The number of traffic accidents involving pedestrians decreased by 16.1%, from 415 to 348, with 16.5% less resulting injured (from 387 to 323) but 4.5% more resulting deaths (from 44 to 46).

During the meeting, the traffic police officers were tasked to implement the pedestrian traffic accident prevention measures, enforce inevitability of punishment for a crime, and increase the quality of services provided to the population.
