According to the company, the Penza State University students are the most avid mobile Internet users, with 49% of them actively employing the 4G connection. They are followed by the students of the PSU Belinsky Pedagogical Institute, at 42%, while the third place hold the students of the Penza State Agriculture Academy, 46%.

Behind them are the Penza State Technological University (33%) and the Penza State University of Architecture and Construction (45%).

As for the phonecall usage, the students of the PSAA and the Belinsky Institute split the top of the list, trailed by PSTU.

According to the notes, the research took into account the statistical data on phonecall and mobile Internet use from the transponders installed in the universities, with a possible bias (accounting for visitors of each institution rather than students and staff) no more than 15%.

“It would be inacceptable for a young person nowadays to leave their phone at home. A smartphone became a modern universal ‘control board’ of our lives: you can use it to work, to find information for studies, to control machinery, and, of course, to chat. And the high-bandwidth internet access by MegaFon allows our clients, including students, to unleash the whole potential of their mobile devices,” the director of MegaFon Penza Alexey Bryukhachev informed PenzaNews agency.

According to the service provider, over a half of Penza cellphone services users have smartphones, with the numbers of devices employing the 4G/LTE technology growing by over 40% in the past 6 months.

Moreover, the MegaFon sales offices practically doubled their gadget assortment offered to clients, at nearly 4 times less the average price: while an average device with 4G support cost above 20,000 rubles a year ago, currently 37% of 4G smartphones lie in the 5,000-10,000 rubles category.
