They decided to follow up on 7 requests out of 9 they received, based on the equipment available and the queue line.
Computers will be donated to: the Penza regional civil charity organization (PRCCO) “Metsenat” represented by its chairman Tamara Tolstova; autonomous non-profit organization against marginalization in society “Zhizn” led by Marina Leonova; PRCCO “Social Youth Service” led by Alsu Urazaeva; as well as three disabled persons – Dmitry Kirpichnikov from Sursk town of the Gorodische area, Vladimir Eliseev from Bashmakovo, and Victor Vlasov from Penza.
Moreover, one of the two printers will be donated to Alexander Lyubimov, citizen activist who maintains correspondence with authorities and communal service companies on current communal issues, while “Social Youth Service” will receive the other one.
The beneficiaries will receive the equipment in the nearest future individually.
Oleg Sharipkov, executive director of Civil Union foundation, said he is happy to see people living in areas of the Penza region also getting involved in the campaign, looking for computers.
“Our program is designed to both eliminate the so-called ‘digital inequality’ and help protect the environment, as the machines continue working instead of contributing to pollution,” he said.
Oleg Sharipkov also urged all citizens to get actively involved in the program “Equipment for the Benefit” – both those who have old but working computers to donate; and those who would like to use them for good purposes.
“We receive requests from various organizations, such as gardener unions that are also non-profit organizations who lack the money for machines. They need both computers and printers for work. It is obvious that we cannot follow up on all requests due to our constraints, but we do register them, and would like to ask all who can donate the equipment help us. If you have some computer components, we will be glad to receive them as well. For example, we are currently in a dire need of various cables and wires for equipment. Seems like a trifle, but many monitors and systems people brought us will be simply useless without them,” explained the executive director of Civil Union foundation.
The ongoing charity program “Equipment for the Benefit” was started in the Penza region by Civil Union foundation in December 2009 on the initiative of PenzaNews agency. It aims to help people and organizations in dire need of working second-hand computers and additional equipment.
