Zarechny, 25 October 2015. PenzaNews. Zarechny city of the Penza region is currently not ready to lose it closed administrative unit status, suggested its mayor Vyacheslav Gladkov in a comment over the presidential decree draft prepared by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade that provides for such a decision as of January 1, 2016.
“I currently have not official information on this account. I can only point out that lifting a closed city status is a long-term and difficult process that requires a grand-scale analysis of financial, social, technical and other risks of such decision for the city and the city’s head production facility. They have done no such analysis,” said the Zarechny city administration head.
According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, he “tried to assure authorities on all levels with his opinion that Zarechny city is not yet ready to be opened, for the last 6 years.”
“Presently, my opinion as the city’s administration head remains the same. Moreover, I know the state corporation Rosatom holds the same opinion. I would like to stress it that I intend to continue bringing it up regularly and in an argument-backed manner on all levels,” the website “Gorod-Z” quotes the city head.
