Penza, 30 October 2015. PenzaNews. A total of 2,891 people in the Penza region were included in the amnesty program dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory.
647 prison inmates were amnestied. 44 of them caused crimes due to negligence, and had been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonments or less. 570 more had less than a year to remain in the prison by the end of the amnesty decree duration. 26 more were amnestied from custody,” Yuri Semenov, deputy head of the Penza Region Federal Penitentiary Service Department, told PenzaNews agency.
Also, 8 women were amnestied from a penal colony, 2 of them with underage children, he added.
“2,244 people monitored by the police in the region were amnestied from punishment not related to imprisonment,” the speaker added.
Yuri Semenov stressed that the amnesty did not cover felony and core crime sentences, special dangerous recidivists, and those who committed intentional crimes while already in prison.
“Each amnesty request was reviewed individually,” he said.
