Each of the new operating rooms is a module-based out-of-the-box set of cutting-edge equipment and machinery for the most modern operations.

“The operating rooms have automatic climate control systems and specialized ventilation which decreases bacterial presence in the environment, ensures safety for the patient, and provides comfortable operating conditions for the staff,” explained Dmitry Chichevatov, assistant Chief Medical Officer for the Penza oncology center.

According to him, the need behind such operating rooms was dictated by a large number of operations conducted in the medical institution – over 5,500 each year, many of them classified as high difficulty.

In 2014, the medical institution saw an influx of new equipment coming in thanks to the oncology center joining the state federal program on medical service modernization, he reminded.

“The further expansion of high-tech surgery platforms has taken a new turn in quality,” stressed the assistant chief medical officer.

The overall cost of the “clean” operating room project reached nearly 40 million rubles that was provided from the regional budget, the press service of the Penza region Health Ministry told PenzaNews agency.

“The new operating rooms are designed for cutting-edge operations, including endoscopies. The module rooms have built-in cameras with broadcast feature enabled, which allows to conduct master classes with leading Russian professionals to facilitate education,” they pointed out.
