Penza, 15 November 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza city has opened the 70-letiya Velikoy Pobedy public garden on an intersection of Shkolnaya and Konnozavodskaya streets.

The official opening ceremony for the public garden took place on Saturday, November 14.

During the ceremony, the Penza city head Victor Kuvaytsev has thanked the people living in Akhuny residential area for being socially active and making a great contribution to the outlook of their neighborhood.

The new public garden in Akhuny, which is named after the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, pays due to the immortal feat of valor the Soviet people had achieved during the Second World War, he stressed.

The head of the city also said he believes the new public garden will become the point of gathering for pupils, students and adults living in the residential area to hold their official events.

After cutting the tape, Victor Kuvaytsev joined the citizens in opening a monument “In The Name of the Fallen, for the Glory of Living, as a Lesson to Descendants.”

Several people addressed the crowd with speeches during the event, one of them Vladimir Kerkhanadzhev, WWII veteran, fighter of the Battle for Stalingrad and the Battle of Kursk, chairman of the city council of war, labor, military and law enforcement veterans, Honorable Citizen of Penza.
