Penza, 25 November 2015. PenzaNews. The draft presidential decree on canceling the closed city status of Zarechny in the Penza region that had been developed by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has been rejected by the state corporation Rosatom, says the letter signed by the head of Rosatom regional affairs management department Alexander Kharichev, in a reply to an address from the city’s mayor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The state corporation received the draft decree for negotiation, the letter points out.

According to the reply, it was declined due to the lack of detailed research on the changes necessary to maintain secure activities of Rosatom Group companies located in Zarechny; no evaluation of potential social and economic consequences of the decision; and no draft of state support measures for the city’s residents if it loses the closed status.
