Rostelecom donates 40 “Internet Alphabet” texbooks to “Equipment for the Benefit”

Penza, 2 December 2015. PenzaNews. Rostelecom has donated 40 “Internet Alphabet” textbooks, developed in a joint project with the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, to “Equipment for the Benefit,” a charity program created with the initiative of PenzaNews agency and managed by Civil Union foundation.

“The textbook makes it easy to understand the rules and quirks of working with text, video audio and photo files and storing information. A large chapter is dedicated to using search engines and chatting in social networks. It also includes detailed information on obtaining state and municipal public services online,” Andrei Makarov, press secretary of Rostelecom’s Penza branch, pointed out.
He said he believes the textbooks will be in great demand among those who receive computers through “Equipment for the Benefit” charity program.
In turn, Oleg Sharipkov, executive director of Civil Union foundation, reminded that many of those who receive computers through the program are of elderly age.
“These books will be priceless for them. No need to ask anyone for help – just open the ‘Internet Alphabet’ and figure everything out on your own. And the information is very easy to understand, both text and pictures,” he said.
The textbook “Internet Alphabet” has been development by Computer Science teachers, curriculum developers, gerontologists and psychologists. It has been specifically adapted to help the elderly overcome the difficulties in learning complex information.
Alongside the printed run, the textbook is also available online, free of charge.
In February 2015, the contents of the text book “Internet Alphabet” received a commendation from the Institute of Computerization in Education of the Russian Academy of Education.
