“A woman, local resident, came to the police office No. 1 in the Penza city. According to her, her child went on a trip to a countryside health resort in summer of 2015, and received an offer from a camp tutor. She asked the child to tell the parents that she sells vouchers for the next camp session at a significant discount – several times below the official price, allegedly due to replacing the children who had to cancel their appointments due to unforeseen circumstances,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.
The victim agreed to take the offer, and gave the woman the money during their next meeting.
“Later on, the tutor told the victim about further and further shifts into the timetable under different pretexts, and then said the voucher was cancelled; however, she did not return the money,” the department reported.
Shortly after, the police detained the woman – a Penza resident, 34, with a previous criminal record for fraud.
“The investigation showed that at least 5 persons were affected by her criminal schemes, for over 30,000 rubles of damages,” the police explained.
The case has been sent to the court for review on the premises, they added.
