In his welcoming speech to the audience of media representatives before the ceremony proper, Victor Kuvaytsev pointed out that the reporters not only inform citizens about the steps taken by the city authorities but also shape the public opinion and maintain openness.

“Together we must do everything to keep our city developing,” he stressed.

Thanks to reporters, people from other regions also learn more about Penza events, Victor Kuvaytsev added.

In turn, Vladimir Popkov, first deputy head of the city administration, noted that most media representatives are socially active and responsible people.

“We are always open for constructive dialogue. The important thing in our communication is advancing to a result – to an unbiased evaluation of any situation. The principle of being impartial must unite us, just like conscious support of positive initiatives, patriotic ideas, peace and friendly coexistence,” said the first vice-mayor.

After rewarding the heads of editorial teams that showed the best results in highlighting the activities of the Penza Duma and city hall in 2015, Victor Kuvaytsev stressed that the authorities are doing everything necessary to resolve the issues that concern the population.

Listing off examples of such issues, he named, among other things, optimization of budget expenses, municipal transportation, placement of moveable shopping stalls and activities of communal service companies.

“All the issues I’m mentioning are being discussed nearly every day. We have some proposals on where to go next,” he assured.
