Penza, 28 December 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region media representatives must not only highlight the troubling issues crucial for the citizens of the region but also actively inform the population about the current positive events, suggested the governor Ivan Belozertsev during his meeting with heads and editors-in-chief of regional media held in “Lastochka” hotel on Monday, December 28.

In the opening speech, the head of the region noted that 2015 will be remembered as a very news-intense year, with very important political, economic and cultural events taking place.

“We managed to do a lot together,” he added.

However, in spite of these events, journalists continued to focus on regular citizens, Ivan Belozertsev pointed out.

He recalled the joint projects of the authorities and the regional media in healthcare, agriculture, education and many other fields.

The authorities will continue to show support for such initiatives, the governor noted.

“I would like to thank you for creating interesting events with the main objective to improve the image of the region and show the best practices,” Ivan Belozertsev said.

He pointed out that the media pays attention to a lot of negative news, and called to focus more on positive examples – both by enterprises and notable people in culture, arts and other fields.

In particular, discussing the examples of media helping unite Russian people over an idea, he praised the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, which caused an unexpectedly large upsurge of patriotism.

In addition, Ivan Belozertsev said he sees investigative reports, particularly in budget spending, as an important field of work.

According to him, each investigative reports forces the officials responsible for budget spending to see their subordinates who follow through with the projects in an entirely different light.

“When there is attention, a red-handed official is forced to look around and stays away from mistakes – just what we need,” he stressed.

“I would like to thank you for your difficult and important work you are doing together with the authorities,” the governor said.
