Penza, 28 December 2015. PenzaNews. The governor Ivan Belozertsev plans to celebrate New Year with his family, like most people in the Penza region.

“My grandchildren will come, and I hope the children will come for a few hours. […] We’ll go outside, celebrate with the neighbors, launch some fireworks, just like anyone else would do,” he said during the meeting with heads and editors-in-chief of Penza region media held in “Lastochka” hotel on Monday, December 28.

The table, as per tradition, will be served with Russian salad “and something else delicious,” the head of the region added.

He also reminisced of the times when the holidays began with a long queue to the shop for champagne, and a successfully bought bottle was a very good reason to rejoice, “perhaps even more than the New Year celebration itself.”

Ivan Belozertsev pointed out that his family is no different from many others and celebrates the holiday just like thousands of other Russian citizens.

“Just like everyone else, my dear friends. And what should be different about us? We have relatives, dear ones, friends, neighbors, something to wish each other for the New Year,” noted the governor.
