Penza zoo installs New Year fir-tree for kangaroo joeys

Penza, 2 January 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza zoo workers have installed a New Year tree to the Bennett’s tree-kangaroo enclosure.

The joeys, which were born to the kangaroo family 5-6 months ago in the warmed enclosure with a shelter, hay bedding and a system of branches, still show themselves very rarely, mostly hiding in their mommies’ pouches, faces out.
To keep the animals stress-free, the zoo workers covered the watch-hole with a piece of cloth that allows the visitors to watch the kangaroos without disturbing them.
The citizens did not have that opportunity before, but as of now, anyone can see how the joeys grow and become more and more independent, the Penza zoo administration informed PenzaNews agency.
“They will be able to freely move around the enclosure by spring,” they pointed out.
