Penza, 14 January 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza firemen Alexei Kalinin, Sergei Makarov and Dmitry Klishin have been put forward for the reward “For Bravery In Fire Rescue” for courage, clear-mindedness, competence, bravery and resolution when saving a child from a house fire.

The incident occurred in the morning of January 8. The EMERCOM service received a report that a fire sparked in a flat on the fourth floor of a Naberezhnoy Reki Moyki street apartment building, after which the fire rescue department No. 3 dispatch on duty of two road tankers and a fire motor ladder moved out to the location.

“When we arrived to the place, we saw a boy, about 12 years old, dressed in a T-shirt, who stood in the balcony and cried for help, with black smoke pouring out of the windows,” said Internal Services Major Vladimir Ionov, head of the fire rescue department No. 3.

The firemen approach the situation with the understanding that using the fire motor ladder is impossible, he explained.

Thanks to their skill and speed of reaction, the fire rescuers managed to enter the flat, put a breating mask on the child, cover him with a blanket, and lead him outdoors, where the scared boy received first aid before being sent to the hospital.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

The reasons that caused the fire are currently being identified, the press service of the Penza region EMERCOM head department informed PenzaNews agency.
