Thirteen swine flu cases registered in Penza region

Penza, 1 February 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region doctors have registered 50 cases of flu, including 13 lab-confirmed A/H1N1 cases, the press service of the regional Rospotrebnadzor department informed PenzaNews agency on Monday, February 1.

“96% of the time, it is non-vaccinated people who get infected with flu,” they added.
According to the department, due to a rise in acute respiratory viral infections and flu, the children’s institutions in Penza, Kuznetsk, Malaya Serdoba, as well as the Kuznetsk, Penza, Lopatino and Kolyshley areas were placed under quarantine.
“Overall, at the moment, 8 schools and 5 preschool institutions have been closed down in the region, and 68 classes in 13 schools were closed,” the Rospotrebnadzor department clarified.
The press service reminded that the acute respiratory viral infection incidence rate surpassed the epidemic threshold by 19.6% in the Penza region, and by 16.6% in Penza city.
“As of Friday, January 29, two Penza schools – No. 19 and No. 7 – were closed for quarantine, and 36 classes in 15 schools – No. 1, 2, 4, 42, 50, 51, 55, 56, 59, 65, 66, 67, 71, 73 and 75 – were selectively closed,” they said.
